In 2005 after the devastating hurricane season we moved to Lake Arthur and into our dream retirement home. The lackadaisical lifestyle was intriguing to us as Bobby and I have always worked full time jobs and had projects for our spare time, we decided it was time to relax. All of the tranquility of this quiet town gradually gave way as we became involved in the regrowth of Lake Arthur. We felt like "The Best Kept Secret In Louisiana", must be shared.
With the Regatta Seafood and Steakhouse opening there became a lot of hype about the town and all of its amenities especially the beautiful lake. This prompted several businesses to open and invest in Lake Arthur, and the town began to blossom, rapidly. People were buying old properties and giving them a facelift; the pride in the community was apparent.
Bobby and I purchased the old Jeff Davis Bank on Main Street at an estate sale. Unsure of what to do with the property, we started spending our time cleaning and painting the property and trying to imagine what this old building should become. After a year of listening to ideas and suggestions from the community we decided to Go With It! We had the perfect location for a small boutique hotel and wine store. After that decision had been made Bobby met with an architect out of Lake Charles and the plans began to roll!
The hotel is named L'Banca Albergo which is Italian for "The Bank Hotel." Our boutique hotel has eight luxury suites. The three suites downstairs have a king size bed. The five suites which are located upstairs have 2 queen size beds in each room. All rooms are personalized with a name instead of a number.
Hoping as more development continues in Lake Arthur, more people will come out and enjoy what the city has to offer and maybe even stay awhile. We have put our faith into the rebirth of this beautiful little town and are looking forward to many years of service to this community. Amazingly, we were blessed with many talented friends who took our vision and helped us capture the character and charisma of the old New Orleans architecture and create a premier boutique hotel.
